CONTROVERSY RAGES IN
THE CONCH REPUBLIC
Many fourth
world nations have problems, but few have caused such
polarization amongst it's citizens.

Free-ranging chickens?
The Conch
Republic; an island nation in the Caribbean; has hundreds,
if not thousands of feral free-ranging chickens over running
this tiny country. The chickens were brought by settlers
in the 1800s and allowed the birds to roam unfettered. Centuries
of freedom have seen them evolve into resourceful - and aggressive
- survivors. The feathered fowls that escaped long ago bred
like Australian rabbits.

The Dilemma:
The dilemma
that the good citizens face is that the chickens do attract
tourist and the sorely needed cash tourism brings in. While
at the same time these feral birds destroy the pristine gardens
of the landed gentry with their scratching for grubs, and cock-a-doodle-doo
all night keeping the wage slaves awake!

I love my rooster
My rooster loves me,
I love my rooster,
By the cottonwood tree,
My little red rooster,
Goes cock-a-doodle-do,
De-doodle-de-doodle,
De-doodle-de-do.

The Conchs
treat them equivalent to the
